Gentle Explorers at MOFP (GEM) is a Drop-In Program that offers a smaller group setting, a quieter environment, and increased support. This program offers a sensory supportive space for children and caregivers to connect, play, and explore. Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children can explore, connect, and regulate at their own pace, while caregivers build community and access helpful resources.

What to expect

Each session is thoughtfully designed to meet the need of children to engage in sensory play at their own pace, explore calming tools and spaces, and connect with others in a low-pressure, supportive environment. The program offers caregivers valuable support through access to educational resources, referrals, and personalized consultations to help them navigate their child’s needs. 

Key Program Features:

• Limited to 8 families per session
• Open play with sensory rich materials
• Special themed days (sound play, textures, water play, etc.)
• Calm-down corners, and a listening station to support emotional and sensory regulation
• Low stimulation environment with dimmed lights
• Early Learning Library
• Parent/caregiver support and discussion time
• Resource sharing on neurodiverse-friendly strategies

Parent Involvement

Parent and caregiver involvement is a central part of program. During each session, caregivers are welcome to participate alongside their children, step back as needed, or join a relaxed discussion space with other parents. This time allows for connection, shared experiences, and the opportunity to learn from one another. Whether you’re looking for guidance, community, or simply a place to exhale, your presence is valued here.
