Parenting Programs

Professionals from the community are invited to speak on issues of interest and relevance to families with children aged 0-6 years.  Examples of topics are dental health, child street safety, language development, childcare options, school readiness, mental health.  Members are welcome to suggest topics they would like to have addressed and staff will try to arrange speakers for these.  Members of the community who would like to host a workshop or speak to parents are encouraged to contact our Executive Director on ED@mofp.org or call 604-263-1405.

The Nobody's Perfect Parenting Program is a parent education and support program for parents with children up to six years of age.  It is offered in both English and Chinese
-          Open to all parents
-          Child-minding is provided for children eighteen months to six years of age or             
           children are welcome to stay quietly with their parents
-          Course materials are provided and sessions include nutritious refreshments.

Our Drop-In Playroom is open Monday to Friday from 9:00-12:00.
The Playroom is nut-free and scent-free environment.

Marpole Oakridge Family Place is proud to host the popular parenting program "Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP).  This is an eight week parenting program for raising resilient toddlers and pre-schoolers.The theory behind STEP techniques is based on the importance of enhancing self-esteem in children.

Wednesdays from 1:00-1:30 sharp.   Best for ages infant to one year olds. A program for parents and caregivers accompanied by a child/children. This program will run September - June. Check our calendar for dates.

- Every Wednesday from 1:30-2:30 in English.  Check our calendar for program dates
- This program includes Mother Goose from 1:00-1:30 with a facilitator that speaks both English and Chinese.
