Current List of programs offered.

  • Professionals from the community are invited to speak on issues of interest and relevance to families with children aged 0-6 years.  Examples of topics are dental health, child street safety, language development, childcare options, school readiness, mental health.  Members are welcome to suggest topics they would like to have addressed and staff will try to arrange speakers for these.  Members of the community who would like to host a workshop or speak to parents are encouraged to contact our Executive Director on or call 604-263-1405.

  • - Every Wednesday from 1:30-2:30 in English.  Check our calendar for program dates
    - This program includes Mother Goose from 1:00-1:30 with a facilitator that speaks both English and Chinese.
    - Parents with children from infant to one year
    - Free
    The group is facilitated by a public health nurse who covers topics such as health, nutrition, safety and child development. The Wednesday group will now include a Mother Goose program from 1:00-1:30 - followed by the regular program. This program is a partnership between Marpole Oakridge Family Place and Vancouver Coastal Health. Please contact for more information.

  • Marpole Oakridge Family Place is proud to host the popular parenting program "Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP).  This is an eight week parenting program for raising resilient toddlers and pre-schoolers.The theory behind STEP techniques is based on the importance of enhancing self-esteem in children.

  • Our Drop-In Playroom is open Monday to Friday from 9:00-12:00.
    The Playroom is nut-free and scent-free environment.
    Drop-in activities include:

    • Arts and crafts
    • Tea, coffee, and pastries available by donation
    • Educational toys
    • Weekly Playroom Programs

  • Dad and Me Drop In Program 
    This program is for dads with young children.  
    Dad and Me activities include:

    • hot breakfast for Dad and Child
    • playtime
    • circle time


  • An interactive, fun and educational circle time for Parents, Caregivers and children.  Circle time offers  story time, singing, daily weather and calendar and seasonal activities in a variety of languages

  • Every Thursday at 9am, bread donated by Cobs Bread on 4th Avenue, Vancouver is available for FREE!

  • Potlucks are on the last Friday of the month and are paired with monthly Birthday Celebrations.  It is a great opportunity for socializing and for children and adults to try out new foods from many cultures.

  • We celebrate many diverse multi-cultural festive celebrations.  See our monthly calendar for details.

  • From time to time, health related workshops are offered by Marpole Oakridge Family Place.  These include dental workshops, sun safe workshops, health nurse sessions, and others.   Parents are welcome to suggest ideas for these workshops.  Watch our calendar!
