The purpose of Marpole Oakridge Family Place is to promote and facilitate the wellbeing of families. We provide a welcoming, supportive and relaxing environment in which parents, caregivers and children can meet to  socialize, play and learn.

Marpole Oakridge Family Place began 40 years ago in a private living room.  From there it moved to a small room at Marpole Oakridge Community Centre where it was operated twice a week by volunteers who relied on donations.  Marpole Oakridge Family Place occupied for over 28 years its own expansive premises in the heritage building that used to be the old Marpole Fire house on Hudson and West 70th Avenue until a flood on December 7, 2013. Now Marpole Oakridge Family Place offers programs at 8877 Selkirk Street.  Four permanent staff and several contract staff, assisted by experienced volunteers, offer a full range of programming providing education, support and fun for parents and caregivers of children aged infant to six years old.
